For most of the second season of "The Walking Dead," Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his band of survivors had been on the farm of Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson) while looking for Sophia (Madison Lintz), a little girl in their group who went missing while being chased by walkers.
In the midseason finale, Rick and company learned that Sophia had been at the farm all along, locked in the barn with the other undead. Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal) didn't help things by releasing the walkers and encouraging the group to slaughter the remains of Hershel's infected family. But when it came time to deal with Sophia, it was Rick himself who put her down.
With the midseason premiere just under two weeks away, AMC has released the first three minutes of the eighth episode, "Nebraska;" which takes place in the immediate aftermath of the barn incident. And as our survivors learn once again, a dead body can never be trusted to stay dead…
Despite Hershel's wishes, Rick tracks him down later in the episode to try to rebuild his hope… shortly before someone unexpected finds them.
SpoilerTV broke the story about the identities of the two new survivors. "Terriers" star Michael Raymond-James is playing a character named Dave, who is described "a charming and friendly guy from a city in the Northeast and has spent a significant amount of time in low-rent bars. He’s able to disarm with a smile, but can quickly turn dangerous. He is the seemingly nice guy who is ruthless and cunning."
His companion, Tony is portrayed by Aaron Munoz ("Cadillac Records"), and he is described as "quick tempered and does not present himself as intelligent as Dave. He likes women, food, and guns."
Both characters are new additions to "The Walking Dead" storyline and they may stick around for more than one episode.
"The Walking Dead" returns to AMC on Sunday, February 12.
