HP Webcam

I’ve had many long distance relationships- thus I know the importance of a good web cam. (Am I already creeping you out!?) Thing I like about the HP Webcam HD 5210, as I do with all webcams, I that you don’t have to stay glued to your computer screen when chatting to someone; the long USB chord gives you a good 6 feet of webcam freedom. That’s right amigo, you can do your chat where you please (well up to 6 feet away from your computer). The bendable stand allows you to set the webcam on any flat surface while the swivel head permits you to have a good 270 degree peripheral view for users. Stupid example, I wanted to show my friend in Austria a tour of my apartment, so I had to hold up my laptop and move it around the room. Now with the HP Webcam HD 5210 I can now give that same tour by simply directing my camera around the room.

Plus I always hate how you never really make direct eye-contact on a laptops camera – the eyes go below the camera at screen level rather than looking directly into the lens.

But that’s purely convenience. How is the video and audio quality? Those are the true measures of wabcam effectiveness.

The Skinny:
  • True 1080p video recording
  • Powerful H 264 video processor to produce life-like HD video
  • High-definition video chats with Skype
  • Stereo mics record very clear sound
  • Less lag time
  • Software allows one click away from uploading to YouTube or Facebook to add your own 1 million view embarrassing dancing video

The HP Webcam HD 5210 retails for $99, but (look around online—you can find it for as low as $59.
