Ever since the pilot was screened for critics last year, "Awake" has been hyped as one of the best new shows of the year. Now, it's your turn to weigh in.
NBC has released the complete pilot episode of "Awake" for viewing online, two weeks ahead of its broadcast premiere on Thursday, March 1.
Jason Isaacs (from the "Harry Potter" film series) stars as Detective Michael Britten, a man haunted by a tragic accident that has seemingly shifted him into two different realities. In one world, Michael's son Rex (Dylan Minnette) was killed in a car wreck, while in the other world, it was his wife, Hannah (Laura Allen) who died.
The mechanism behind each world is deceptively simple. Every time that Michael goes to sleep, he wakes up in the other world. Therefore, he is unable to tell which world is the dream and which world is the reality. His therapists in both realities, Dr. John Lee (B. D. Wong) and Dr. Judith Evans (Cherry Jones) attempt to make Michael believe that their world is real. While Michael's partners in each reality, Detective Efrem Vega (Wilmer Valderrama) and Detective Isaiah "Bird" Freeman (Steve Harris) both note his increasingly strange behavior.
Because from Michael's perspective, the two realities are irrevocably linked and both worlds may actually be real. Perhaps Michael Britten has discovered something extraordinary…
