Battle Royale: The Complete Collection – Red Band Clip

Forget about Hunger Games. The film they thought they couldn't show in America finally comes to Blu-ray on March 20.

A group of teenagers are brought to a remote location, given weapons, and told that only one of them can survive. No, it's not Hunger Games, it's Battle Royale, the film that shocked the world back in 2000 and was never properly released in America… until now. Anchor Bay has stepped up to the plate with a 3-Disc Blu-ray release of Battle Royale in all its unedited, gory glory. The best part is that it's not an exploitation film: it's a legitimate drama about the ways that children are pitted against one another in real life. This time they just happen to be fitted with explosive collars. Beyond the expert action choreography, it's an important piece of cinema that explosively calls attention to real life issues, making it a "Must See" movie for anyone with even a casual interest in film.

The above clip is from early in the movie, when many of the characters are still processing what's happened to them, making them easy prey for all the other 9th graders who decide to go for blood. You'll see what happens next, and despite the presence of the lovely Kou Shibasaki, it ain't pretty.
