Check out the Earth 2 versions of the Trinity, not to mention the origins of the new World's Finest.

Earth 2 Robin

We've heard the news that DC's Second Wave of the New 52 (i.e. 6 new books to replace 6 canceled books) will feature an expansion into the multiverse with Earth 2 (w: James Robinson, a: Nicola Scott) and Worlds' Finest (w: Paul Levitz, a: George Perez & Kevin Maguire). The latter focuses on Power Girl and the Huntress, two refugees from Earth 2 currently trucking around in the New 52 world, while the former was said to focus on the Justice Society of America, finally giving them a place in the DCnU. Unfortunately, we haven't seen hide nor hair of the JSA yet, but we have seen character designs for the Earth 2 versions of the Trinity – aka Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

Take a look at them now, featuring comments on what their deals will be in their new books.

Earth 2 Superman

Design: Jim Lee

Robinson: “Mourning the death of his beloved, Superman carries both a sadness in his heart along with the weight of Earth 2′s welfare upon on his shoulders, while never showing this and seeming to all that he is this world’s peerless champion."

Earth 2 Wonder Woman

Design: Jim Lee

Robinson: “Due the events that open the saga of Earth 2, Wonder Woman is already the last Amazon of this world and she is determined to avenge her sisters…at whatever cost."

Earth 2 Editor Pat McCallum: “How did Wonder Woman come to be the last of the Amazons? It’s one of the mysteries we’ll be getting into with the series. While there will be recognizable faces and settings on Earth 2, don’t for a moment think you’re on familiar ground. Do that, and you let your guard down…and then you’ll end up like the rest of the Amazons.”

Earth 2 Batman

Design: Jim Lee

McCallum: “Who will Batman kill to save his own daughter? Right out of the gate that should tell you we’re dealing with a different kind of Dark Knight here. More ruthless, dangerous…the costume is familiar and yeah, there is a Wayne under the mask, but we’re looking at a man desperate to save the only family he has left. Earth 2 is about to become a very bad place to be a bad guy.”

Of course, we've also got the beginnings of the cast of Worlds' Finest, wherein Helena Wayne was once Robin, and Karen Starr was once Supergirl.

Earth 2 Robin

Design: Kevin Maguire

Robinson: “Helena Wayne has been taught how to be the perfect Robin. Assured as a detective, fighter, scientist, pilot and all around crime-fighter she’s been groomed by Batman to be the perfect caped manhunter (or should we say manHuntress) when she grows up.”

Worlds' Finest editor Wil Moss: “Before coming to the main DCU Earth and taking up the mantle of Huntress, Helena Wayne fought crime alongside her father as the Robin to his Batman on Earth-2! But how did she come to be on this Earth? And why did she decide to become Huntress? You’ll get some clues in next week’s Huntress #6, but for the real scoop, pick up Worlds' Finest #1!”

Earth 2 Supergirl

Design: Kevin Maguire

Moss: “Meet the Earth 2 Supergirl, aka Karen Starr. As readers of Mister Terrific already know, Karen has been busy since she arrived on the main DCU Earth, creating a successful company and dating the brilliant Michael Holt. But what are her true motives behind those actions? How did she get here? And what incident prompts her to take up her new identity of Power Girl? Find out in Worlds' Finest #1!”

Robinson: “Superman’s cousin loves her adopted world with a passion, seeing how the people of Earth have adopted her and taken her to their hearts. She is the definitely brightest light among this first group of Earth 2 heroes.”

"First group" of Earth 2 heroes, Robinson says. One assumes that means the SECOND group will be the Justice Society we've all been waiting for. Let's get cracking on seeing those character designs, eh, DC?

In the meantime, here's another look at covers of both Earth 2 and Worlds' Finest.
