Back in February – oh, so long ago – a little film called Chronicle took the found footage genre and flipped it on its head, telling the story of teenaged kids with superpowers who go totally Akira on each other. We loved it, and have been eagerly awaiting for Fox to announce the sequel that the film's finale pretty much promised us. Good news for us then: Fox has tapped Max Landis, who wrote the original film and also wrote and directed the viral video The Death and Return of Superman, to pen a follow-up.
Unfortunately, that's all we've got right now. Deadline, who broke the story, offered no details outside of their headline, "Max Landis Set to Write Chronicle 2 for Fox," although Max Landis did confirm the announcement on Twitter. So now we get to speculate on the film's direction – which could theoretically go anywhere – and also who might actually direct, since original Chronicle director Josh Trank, who is also credited with the film's story, is now probably too busy directing that curious Venom spin-off for Sony.
CraveOnline will return with more Chronicle 2 news after we totally rock the school talent show.
