Updated Story: Konami has sent over a press release officially announcing the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection's summer launch window. With that good news comes some bad news. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will not be included in the PS Vita port here in the west. Enter: sad face…
Original Story: Today, Konami announced that the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will come to the PS Vita this summer in the west. Japanese gamers were treated to a firm release date for the title, however — June 28th.
Details about the western version of the game are still foggy. You would think this would be a straight-up port of the version that just recently released for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, containing Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. But that unfortunately might not be the case.
In Japan, the HD Collection will release on Vita with only MGS2 and MGS3 collected (mirroring the content of the Japanese Xbox 360 and PS3 releases). Us western gamers were treated to Peace Walker as well in our HD Collections, so one would assume that's what the Vita version will contain as well. Again, we're not sure yet. There's a chance Peace Walker won't be included simply because it was originally a PSP title that will eventually be made available through the Vita's PS Store. Shady game release politics, ahoy!
We can expect more concrete details about the Vita's Metal Gear Solid HD Collection in the near future. We just want Konami to give us the straight and narrow so we can stop worrying. Peace Walker or no Peace Walker? Tell us!
