On March 17th in the world's most famous arena, one of the best fighters in the world, Sergio Martinez, will be defending his Middleweight championship against the always game Matthew Macklin. The fight will be televised live from Madison Square Garden on HBO's Boxing After Dark. Recently I had a chance to sit down with Sergio and discuss a wide array of topics. Here's what he had to say.

CraveOnline: How's this training camp been?

Sergio Martinez: So Far, the best one of my life.

What does Macklin bring to the table as a fighter?

He's very young and strong and he will have a lot of motivation.

Did you see his fight against Felix strum? Tell me what you thought about his performance. Do you think he won?

I think Macklin won and showed his great level and if the fight would of been outside of Spain, Macklin would of won that fight.

A lot of people including myself agree that you are the best fighter in the world and one of the most avoided. but at the same time you are not on many people's radar. Why do you think that is?

I think because I'm very dangerous out there.

How important for you is it to be fighting in the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden?

It's the fight in the most important arena of my boxing career.

How frustrating is it for you not to get the big money fights such as Mayweather/Pacquaio?

I think those things will come on their own. It doesn't take away my sleep.

What do you think has to happen for you to receive these kinds of opportunities?

More fights but more importantly, more great performances.

I read recently your next bout might be back at 154. Is that true and if so who are you targeting?

I will give you the answer on March 18th.

You've been calling out Julio Caesar Chavez Jr for some time and recently his father had some strong comments towards you. He said his son can fight you in September and that he would bet his entire career that his son would beat you. What is your response?

My response is that I will know my future after I fight Macklin.

What do you think of the upcoming Cotto/Mayweather fight and how do you see it going?

I think Mayweather will clearly win.

Would you like to face the winner?

Of course, definitely.

Lastly what will happen March 17th?

We will both put on a great show and I will win by TKO.
