Sookie Stackhouse and friends face greater threats ahead, as vampires use religion as an excuse to feed on humanity.

At the end of last season of "True Blood," Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) found himself face-to-face with the rabidly anti-vampire Reverend Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian)… who was sporting a new set of fangs. But could Newlin's transformation be a sign of things to come in season five?

In the newly released teaser trailer for "True Blood" season 5, we hear the dulcet tones of Christopher Heyerdahl's ancient and powerful vampire, Dieter Braun as he invokes a religious narrative that places vampires as God's chosen people with humanity as little more than cattle.

We also see Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and an unidentified person helping her bury bodies in her backyard — which are probably Debbie and Tara's bodies — as well as the continued partnership of Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard), Arlene (Carrie Preston) getting spooked by her husband, Terry (Todd Lowe) and Eric locking lips with someone new… possibly his vampire "sister," Nora (Lucy Griffiths).

Also joining the "True Blood" cast this year are Christopher Meloni ("Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"), Kelly Overton ("The Ring Two") and Peter Mensah ("Spartacus: Vengeance").

There's currently no set date for the season five premiere, but "True Blood" will return to HBO in June.
