Rumored Gears of War: Exile is Cancelled

This Gears experience will never see the light of day.

There was a rumor floating around that Epic Games was working on a Kinect-driven Gears of War experience called Gears of War: Exile. That is no longer the case, I'm afraid. While speaking with GameSpot, Epic's Cliff Bleszinski confirmed that the project has been scrapped.

"Let's just bury the hatchet now," said Bleszinski. "Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can't give any details about that has since been cancelled."

Done and done.

Gears of War: Exile originally came to light thanks to a trademark patent back in January of 2011. According to Xbox 360 World Magazine, Exile was going to debut at E3 2011. That obviously didn't happen. There were also rumors circulating that developer People Can Fly (Bulletstorm) was working on a prequel to the Gears of War saga. Were these two project's linked in some way? Maybe, but in the case of Exile, we'll never know exactly what it was nor why it was cancelled.

Speculate away!
