As if we didn't have enough of our own home-grown reality shows (ahem, "Dragons' Den," "Battle of the Blades," "Star Academie," and the like), now another American-made reality series is making its way onto Canadian soil – Canada's first "Bachelor" will be revealed on May 1st.

Auditions were held last month in Toronto, and Rogers Media will announce who the Canuck stud star of the first Canadian series will be on May 1 on Breakfast Television, Rogers Radio and BachelorCanada.ca.

A huge casting call also went out to single ladies across the country. Citytv launched a nationwide search in February to find the most eligible bachelorettes, starting in Vancouver and spanning six-cities, with stops in Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, and Halifax.

"The Bachelor Canada" will begin shooting in the coming weeks. “We are searching for romantic hopefuls from across the country that represent the true scope of the vibrant, fun and fearless women here in Canada,” said Claire Freeland, Director of Original Programming, Rogers Media, and Executive Producer of "The Bachelor Canada," in an official release. “This is an extraordinary opportunity for bachelorettes currently on a quest for love and willing to put it all on the line to find it.”

Information about Canadian's most eligible bachelor are being kept under wraps, however the Toronto Star pointed out just two things that have been revealed about our new Canadian bachelor: he has small-town roots and “he is drawn to intelligent women who are comfortable in their own skin.” That narrows it down!

The first season will consist of nine episodes and will launch in the fall on Citytv.
