Last fall, Fox announced a potential TV adaptation of "The Punisher" which seemed to liberally crib several plot elements from "Dexter." So, it's only fitting that the Punisher is now coming to "Dexter."
According to TVLine, Ray Stevenson is the first new cast member of "Dexter" season seven, where he will play a major recurring role. The early word on Stevenson's character is that he is a high ranking member of an Eastern European crime ring who travels to Miami during his quest to discover who killed one of his associates. Given Dexter's nocturnal activities, it seems like a pretty safe guess to assume that Dexter is the man that Stevenson's character is looking for.
Stevenson is best known for playing Titus Pullo for two seasons on HBO's "Rome," as well as his portrayal of Frank Castle aka The Punisher in Punisher: War Zone. Stevenson has also appeared in Thor, King Arthur, The Vampire's Assistant, The Other Guys, The Book of Eli and The Three Musketeers. Stevenson will also play Firefly in the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
More "Dexter" season seven casting announcements should follow in the coming weeks before production begins. The seventh season of "Dexter" will premiere on Sunday, September 30.
