Yesterday the schedule for the Montreal International Jazz Festival was revealed and the biggest names include headliners Janelle Monáe, who will hosting an indoor concert at Metropolis on June 27th, as well as Adam Cohen (son of Jazz Fest golden boy Leonard Cohen) and Ziggy Marley, Bob Marley's musically-inclined offspring.
Cohen will play Metropolis on July 4th and Marley will take the same stage earlier into the event on June 28th.
Other performers include Deltron 3030, Cellist Jorane, and pianist Oliver Jones. Sophie Hunger and Billy Bragg will be doing a tribute to Bob Dylan and Club Soda will host a tribute to John Lennon by guitarist Bill Frisell on June 28th. Tangerine Dream, Seal and Liza Minnelli are on the bill, along with Montreal's own Ranee Lee. James Taylor will be part of pre-event celebrations with concerts on June 27th and 28th, and Norah Jones is back at the Jazz Fest for the first time in nine years and will be closing the event by playing at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier.
And Vic Vogel will put on a show with 17 musicians for an exciting evening of Afro-Cuban music.
