5 Great Games Under $10

If you’re ballin’ on a budget, here are five classics worth investing in.

Late in a console's life cycle, there are always tons of used games out there perfect for those of you on a limited budget. The following is a list of great discount games that won’t put you in debt. All of these games are $10 or less on the fantastic Half.com. If you’re like me and looking to add to your library this summer, here’s a list chock full of solid games.

2010 FIFA World Cup

Normally, I’d steer you clear of any used sports games. With the quick turnaround of sports games, picking up an old one doesn’t provide much replay. Fortunately, the World Cup only comes around once every four years. I found that 2010 FIFA World Cup provides an engaging experience that took me back to the fervor that surrounded the last World Cup. The sights and sounds are a welcome return and the rosters take me back to better days.

Gears of War/Gears of War 2

Epic’s amazing trilogy has come to a conclusion and the first two games in the series are on the cheap. For new Xbox owners, Gears of War is a must own and Gears 2 is a great pick-up for anyone who may have missed out for an unknown reason. There definitely have been complaints about the story in Gears 2, but the gameplay is perfect and Horde mode is still a blast.

Left 4 Dead

Valve’s kick-ass zombie game is a must-own for any console or PC gamer. Sure, you could pick this game up on Steam for $2.50 at some point. But then you’d need to, like, know how to build a computer and deal with stuff like Direct X. Gross. Why bother when you can just order the green box delivered to your home and slaughter zombies from the comfort of your couch!

Grand Theft Auto IV

At this point, I fully expect that GTA IV will be named one of the best games of this generation. The deep gameplay and engaging story made GTA IV a colossal success. This game is a must own for every human who calls themselves a gamer. If you somehow missed GTA IV, get thee to Half.com and rectify this immediately.

I think a lot of gamers missed out on this THQ game from a few years back. With the sequel on the horizon, now is the perfect time to pick up a used copy of Darksiders. The game has a fun story, some awesome gameplay, and puzzles that will give you pause. Darksiders is a great mix of Legend of Zelda and God of War. Sounds wacky on the surface but tastes like a Reese’s peanut butter cup after you have your first bite.
