To say that we're curious about David Gordon Green's upcoming remake of Suspiria, the horror classic by Dario Argento, would be a hell of an understatement. It's hard to write the film off as just another rehash when the director of George Washington is involved. It's going to be even harder now that the film has its impressive principle cast in place, including Hunger Games co-star Isabelle Fuhrman in the lead role originally played by the great Jessica Harper.

Shock Till You Drop reports that Fuhrman, who got her first starring role in the deliciously disturbing thriller Orphan, will be joined by Isabelle Huppet (The Piano Teacher), Academy Award-nominee Janet McTeer (Albert Nobbs), Antje Traue (Man of Steel) and Michael Nyqvist (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol). The news doesn't specify which roles the adult cast will be performing, but based on the original film, available parts would include a suspicious headmaster and a blind pianist who works there and meets a most unfortunate end.

Suspiria, if you haven't seen it (shame), tells the story of an American ballet student (Fuhrman) who moves to an eerie ballet school in Eastern Europe, where the students are being murdered and the supernatural abounds. Argento's horror classic is known for its dreamlike cinematography, operatic storytelling and graphic violence. Fuhrman seems like an excellent choice for the lead role, given her innocent appearance and impressively mature performances in films past.

CraveOnline will be back with more Suspiria news after the meat goes bad.
