The creators of Mortal Kombat, NetherRealm Studios, will be taking another crack at a DC Universe fighting game with Injustice: Gods Among Us. Warner Bros. announced the title today, which pits the DC Universe’s greatest heroes and villains against one another.

The game will release sometime in 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U. WB Games and NetherRealm claim Injustice will feature a gigantic cast of DCU mainstays, as well as a deep, original story penned by DC writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti.

Now, we all remember Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and how unspectacular it was. Hopefully Injustice: Gods Among Us doesn’t share the same fate. With NetherRealm behind the steering wheel, though, there is hope that this game’s combat and story will be spectacular. The studio did great things with last year’s Mortal Kombat reboot.
