Kenny Powers is dead. But La Flama Blanca lives on!
HBO has ordered a fourth season of "Eastbound & Down" that will consist of eight episodes. Created by Ben Best, Jody Hill and Danny McBride, "Eastbound & Down" follows the misadventures of former Major League Baseball pitcher Kenny Powers (McBride) from his failed attempts to rebuild his life in his hometown of Shelby County, North Carolina to his bizarre stint in Mexico as both a cockfighter and a pitcher for a Mexican Baseball team.
The recently concluded third season of "Eastbound & Down" found Kenny Powers back in the minor leagues with the Myrtle Beach Mermen before finally getting his chance at a Major League comeback. In the finale, Powers walked away from his return and faked his death in order to reunite with his estranged lover, April (Katy Mixon) and their infant son, Toby.
McBride and the other producers of "Eastbound & Down" had previously indicated that the series would end with the third season, as clearly set up by the latest turn of events. The question now is how long can Kenny maintain the illusion of his death and stay with his family before falling back into his selfish vices? Probably not long…
"Eastbound & Down" season 4 is likely to debut in 2013.
