During "The Walking Dead" panel at Comic-Con International, AMC unveiled the first full length trailer for the third season of its blockbuster zombie series based upon the comic book series by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard.
"The Walking Dead" TV series has already taken some divergent paths from the original comic when it comes to the story. And while the upcoming third season brings in a lot of familiar elements like the prison, The Governor (David Morrissey) and Michonne (Danai Gurira); the new trailer hints at some significant changes ahead. So, consider this your SPOILER WARNING before watching the trailer!
As you can see in the footage, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincolm) and his increasingly desperate band of survivors take refuge in a prison and claim it as their own; which eventually attracts the attention of the Governor and his followers in Woodbury, who consider the prison part of their territory. The new wrinkle added here is that Michonne and Andrea (Laurie Holden) apparently meet the Governor before Rick does and they will see more of the town before things get ugly.
The last scene in the trailer also reintroduces Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) after long absence from the series. And he doesn't appear to be in a forgiving mood over his missing hand…
"The Walking Dead" season 3 will kick off on Sunday, October 14.
